In My Defense: Week #11
D/ST Streamers – Week #11
Below are three streaming options for the DST slot in Week #11 but before we go ahead, there’s a few DSTs that are highly owned in fantasy leagues, but you should double check your waiver wire or FA to see if they’re somehow available.
Cleveland Browns – What looked on paper as a solid matchup last week against the Patriots turned into an embarrassing output from the Browns’ defense. They allowed 452 yards and 45 points to an average Patriots’ offense, finishing as the worst performing DST in Week 10. I expect them to bounce back in a major way this week hosting the Detroit Lions as 11.5-point favorites in a game with one of the lowest Over/Under’s on the week (43.5). The Lions have an embarrassingly low implied team total (11) and have allowed the 6th most fantasy points to DSTs this season, a juicy combination when looking to stream a DST. Detroit gives up 3 sacks and over a turnover per game this season, while being the 3rd worst scoring offense in the NFL. The Browns’ DST should have a field day this week in Cleveland.
Miami Dolphins – Coming into the season the Dolphins, and especially the defense, had sky-high expectations after barely missing the playoffs in 2020. The potential of the team was not realized immediately, being one of the worst teams in the NFL and an attractive target for fantasy skill players. However, over the last few weeks, Miami has seemingly come alive, beating the Texans and Ravens in the last two weeks, and allowing only 9 and 10 points in each game respectively. This week they get a very attractive matchup against the Jets who will be playing recently signed QB Joe Flacco. Regardless of who’s in at QB, the Jets have been a very successful matchup to target for DSTs, allowing the most points to the position this year. I can’t imagine Joe Flacco walks into the Jets’ situation with a week of practice under his belt and puts out anything too impressive.
San Francisco 49ers – After what was expected to be a brutal match-up against the Rams, there’s a good chance the 49ers’ defense was dropped last week and sitting out on the waiver wire. The high-flying Rams offense has been somewhat grounded as of late, including a 31-10 blowout to the 49ers last week. The 49ers have been great on the road this season, winning 4 of their 5 road games and this week they travel to Jacksonville to take on a Jags team that’s been extremely competitive over the last 2 weeks. While the Jaguars seem to be playing their hearts out recently, they’re still a prime matchup to target for DSTs. They allow the 3rd most points to DSTs this season due to the amount of splash plays they provide, yielding 1.7 giveaways and 1.8 sacks per game. San Fran is a heavy 6.5-point road favorite in a game with a 45.5-point Over/Under, giving Jacksonville a lowly implied total of 19.5 points, one of the lowest this week. The low scoring expectations and surrendering of splash plays by Jacksonville should land the 49ers DST near the top this week.
I hope this article helped you and as always, stay true.
