In My Defense: Week #16 D/ST Streams
D/ST Streamers – Week #16
Below are three streaming options for the DST slot in Week #16 but before we go ahead, there’s a few DSTs that are highly owned in fantasy leagues, but you should double check your waiver wire or FA to see if they’re somehow available.
Green Bay Packers – The Packers have been a solid DST option this season, coming in at #12 at the position so far this year. This week they are a huge 7-point home favorite against the Cleveland Browns, who have an implied team total of 18.5 points, one of the lowest on the week. Cleveland was decimated by COVID last week, having to roll out several back up and 3rd string options on offense and defense, so they should have their majority of starters back this week. Even with a full slate of starters, Cleveland’s offense has been rough this season, ranking near the bottom of the NFL in points and yards per game. The Packers’ offense is one of the best this year, and if they can get out to a lead, which the spread implies, it should limit the Browns’ strength of their running game, and force the ball into Mayfield’s hands more often, which typically leads to success for the opposing defense.
Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles were one of my streaming options this last week against Washington, and they didn’t deliver the way I had hoped, with only 2 sacks and no turnovers against Washington’s back-up QB. I think they’re in a nice spot to bounce back this week as heavy 10-point home favorites against the Giants who are giving up the 7th most fantasy points to DSTs over the last 4 weeks. The Giants have been one of the worst offenses in the NFL this season, and especially of late since Mike Glennon has taken over at QB. In his 3 starts this season combined, Glennon has thrown only 2 touchdowns with 5 INTs, and has gotten sacked on average twice per game. The Giants have the lowest implied team total this week, so I expect a huge bounce back for the Philly DST.
Kansas City Chiefs – To start the 2021 season, the Chiefs owned the league’s worst defense by far. They were a popular target for offensive skill positions and were allowing over 30 points per game the first half of the season. They have turned things around in a massive way this year, ranking as the #3 DST in fantasy since Week 8. They host the Steelers as 9-point home favorites with an Over/Under of 46 points, middle of the pack. The Steelers have been the 6th worst offense in the NFL over the last 3 weeks, and seemingly look worse and worse each week. They’re coming off one of their worst offensive performances of the season last week, a 19-13 win against the Titans. Although they were victorious, the Steelers’ offense only amassed 168 total yards, and gave up 3 sacks. The Chiefs’ high-flying offense and high point total implies a more pass happy Pittsburgh team, which isn’t their strength at all. I don’t see Pittsburgh cracking 20 points in this one and forcing the ball in Big Ben’s hands more often should lead to higher chance of sacks and turnovers.
I hope this article helped you and as always, stay true.
