In My Defense: Week #8 D/ST Streams
D/ST Streamers – Week #8
Below are three streaming options for the DST slot in Week #8 but before we go ahead, there’s a few DSTs that are highly owned in fantasy leagues, but you should double check your waiver wire to see if they’re somehow available.
Cincinnati Bengals – The Bengals travel to take on the New York Jets as 10.5-point road favorites, a monster spread for a team on the road. Even with Zach Wilson in the fold, the Jets have been a team to target for DST streamers all year long, and now with Wilson sidelined 2-4 weeks, the Bengals get even more attractive this week. QB Mike White will make his first NFL start in Week 8, after seeing his first ever NFL action last week. The Jets have an implied team total of only 16 points, the lowest on the week. In addition to the low point expectation, the Jets are near the worst in the league in giveaways and sacks allowed per game. The Bengals haven’t had much turnover luck, averaging less that 1 takeaway per game, but they’ve been top 10 this season in sacks per game, and in this matchup, I imagine they get multiple turnovers. Regardless of the opponent, you should stream DSTs against the Jets for the foreseeable future.
San Francisco 49ers – After a strong season in 2020, the 49ers’ defense has seemingly regressed this year, currently ranking in the bottom third of the NFL in scoring defense, yards allowed per game, sacks, and takeaways. They haven’t been a strong DST option this season, which means they’re most likely on your waiver wire, but they get a nice matchup this week traveling to Chicago. Since rookie QB Justin Fields has taken over, the Bears have allowed the 5th most fantasy points to DSTs. Chicago has an implied team total of 17.75 points, the 3rd lowest on the week, and has given up 3.3 sacks and 2 giveaways per game over the last three weeks. They’ve scored 12.3 points per game in their last three contests, 2nd lowest in the NFL which makes San Fran a very attractive option this week.
Atlanta Falcons – Another defense that’s been lackluster this season is the Atlanta Falcons. They’re typically not an option managers are rushing to get into their line-ups, but this week they take on the Carolina Panthers who have been in a nosedive over the last several weeks. Carolina has given up the 2nd most points to DSTs over the last 4 weeks. They’ve allowed 2.3 turnovers and 4.3 sacks per game, 2nd worst and worst in the NFL respectively. Like the 49ers, the Atlanta defense hasn’t been great, ranking bottom third in the NFL in points allowed, sacks and takeaways, but for a manager in a pinch this match-up is too good to ignore and the Atlanta DST should give you a solid output.
I hope this article helped you and as always, stay true.
