Round Table
Welcome back to the TSF Round Table where the guys at Truth Serum Football are joined by our very special guest Evan Creel! The offseason is continuing to drag on and as always we're here to answer some questions. Have a question you want us to answer at next week’s Round Table discussion? Drop it in a comment below.
- Who is your early favorite to win the AFC North?
Travis: Cleveland Browns haven’t won a division title since 1989. This will be the year they end that streak. This team solidified their pass rush with the addition of Clowney. All of the team is returning off of their great showing of 2021 and if
Baker can take that next step, this team should be competing for the division title. I’ll take Baltimore 2nd, Pittsburgh 3rd, and Cincinnati 4th.
Jason: My early favorite to win the AFC North is the Baltimore Ravens. They had another solid draft and filled some major holes on their roster. They have all the pieces to make a run this year. Hopefully Lamar goes back to his MVP ways and leads them to an AFC North title.
Jeremiah: I think that the Steelers will win the division again as long as Roethlisberger stays healthy.
Evan: Browns
- PPR Redraft, in what order do you rank the top three Bengals Receivers?
Travis: Jamarr Chase leads the pack year 1 in this offense but not by much. We’ll have to see where I lay all of their projections, but I would gather that Boyd and Higgins target share won’t be that far behind on what Chase will get.
Jason:
Boyd
Chase
Higgins
Jeremiah: Chase, Boyd, Higgins.
Evan: Higgins, Chase, Boyd
- PPR Redraft, James Robinson or Travis Etienne?
Travis: Travis Etienne will lead this backfield next year in catches from the running back position. I could see a situation where Robinson gets the 1-2 work and Etienne gets the 3rd down work, but in the end the talent and draft capital will eventually weigh itself out and Etienne will win out. Another thing that is going to hurt Robinson is on who Trevor Lawrence trusts to pick up the blitz.
Jason: James Robinson, barring any injuries.
Jeremiah: Etienne! I think he’ll get a lot of targets from Lawrence.
Evan: Etienne, especially if they're using him at WR.
- After the NFL Draft, what team is your pick to be the most improved in 2021?
Travis: Can I say the New York Jets? The Jets did all the right things. If you look at their first few picks and what they did in the offseason you can see that this team is serious about improving their offense. QB? Check, OT? Check, WRs ? Check. This team has nowhere to go but up. They did things a smart franchise does. This isn’t the Same old Jets team. If this team ends up 7-10 that will be wayyyyy more than most people are probably expecting from them.
Jason: My pick for most improved after the draft is the LA Chargers. They got one of the top OTs in the draft to shore up their O-line and also added a great CB prospect in Asante Samuel Jr with their next pick. I think they are going to be a force in the AFC, as long as Justin Herbert performs at a high level.
Jeremiah: I’d have to say the New England Patriots! They spent the most money that any team ever has in free agency, and they also had a very good draft as well. I see them getting right back in the playoffs.
Evan: Bengals and Chargers, both grabbed a much needed Tackle and both grabbed highlight players with Chase and Samuel Jr.
- Start, bench, cut: Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr, Carson Wentz.
Travis: Starting Cousins-he finished off last year as his best as a pro so far. He should have absolutely been an MVP candidate last year with the stats that he put up. He had two stud WRs, a world class RB, and an up-and-coming TE in Irv Smith Jr.
Bench Carr- he’s a serviceable quarterback but isn’t in the best situation to succeed l. He has questions at WR, but has superstar TE and a very good RB. I wouldn’t mind him as my QB2 on my team.
Cut-Wentz. Is Carson Wentz even worth drafting? This team should be run heavy and I don’t imagine they will depend on his arm too much which won’t bode well for your fantasy team.
Jason:
Start Derek Carr
Bench Carson Wentz
Cut Kirk Cousins
Jeremiah: Start Cousins (If it’s not a Monday night game), bench Wentz, cut Carr.
Evan: Start Carr, Bench Cousins, cut Wentz. Wentz hasn't been able to shake the injury and slow the game back down. 🤷♂️
Hopefully Indianapolis can get him back to his early years form.
That’s it for this week guys. Thanks for reading and as always, stay true.
