Round Table
Welcome back to the TSF Round Table where the guys at Truth Serum Football are joined by our guest Tyler Sutton of 715 Fantasy Football! The Regular Season is just around the corner and as always we're here to answer some questions. Have a question you want us to answer at next week’s Round Table discussion? Drop it in a comment below.
- Who has impressed you in the preseason the most so far?
Jordan: Gotta be Fields. I’m sure Trey Lance will get some love here but Fields absolutely looks like he is ready to go week 1.
Zack: Jaret Patterson. Clear cut RB 2 behind Antonio Gibson for carries.
Jimmy: This preseason, so far I like what I see from Justin Fields. I think he's going to win that starting job by week 3 to 4. After their bye week at the latest. Also pains me to say it, but I like what I see from Mac Jones as well. I think both these rookie quarterbacks are showing why they were taken in the first round.
Tyler: Rhamondre Stevenson. He showed out in his first pre-season game, took advantage of his chances. 10 carries for 127 and two touchdowns is something to turn your head and say “hey now!” I'm looking forward to seeing what he does for the rest of the preseason.
- Give us your top bust candidate for each position.
Jordan: QB - Aaron Rodgers - Let’s start off by getting everyone riled up. I get it he won MVP last year. But he hates this team, and last year was the anomaly. I believe he will regress back to the 25-30 TD Mark that he was previously at.
RB - Saquon Barkley - Y’all can have all the shares. I prefer my RB 1 to have something going for him other than natural abilities. Coming off a major knee injury and never having had great success without Eli, I’m all out on Quon.
WR - Kenny Golladay. He’s soft. The team is soft. He will not be a top 30 WR this year.
TE - Kyle Pitts - I LOVE him as a prospect. I also think he could be a monster the second half of the season. I’m not ready to anoint him on day 1 and if he takes a few weeks to get going I’ll be ready to scoop and stash on the waivers.
Zack: Ryan Tannehill, Antonio Gibson, Diontae Johnson, Robert Tonyan.
Jimmy: QB - I'm saying Joe Burrow only because that OL is atrocious and I think he's gonna get hurt again. Maybe not season ending, but enough to keep him sidelined.
RB - Joe Mixon. Trend here with Cincy players. Injury prone.
WR - Deebo Samuel. With Aiyuk emerging and Kittle being who he is, Samuel is WR3 at best.
TE - Gronk. OJ Howard back from injury and Cameron Brate there, Gronk's stats decrease
Tyler: QB- Jared Goff/Trever Lawrence
Goff had so much talent around him it made him look good, now in Detroit with no weapons outside of Hockenson, a horrible offensive line and a carousel of running backs when it should be De’Andre Swift being the lead. My other is Trevor Lawrence, they are calling him the best QB since Andrew Luck, those are big shoes to fill. Obviously not big like Big Ben or Dak their rookie years but Luck had 4 thousand passing yard season, 23 TDs and a guy named Reggie Wayne and another rookie in T.Y. Hilton. I don’t see Lawrence having the same luck with Laviska and Chark, James Robison and Etienne. But it’s only the pre-season.
RB- Saquan Barkley. Coming off complete knee restructure of his ACL, MCL and PCL, Barkley has a tough time coming back from that injury. Only two other running backs have come back and had stellar seasons after having at least their ACL repaired and that was Adrian Peterson in his record setting season and Deuce McCallister. Also, the addition with Galladay and Toney (thank you Giants for Justin Fields) but more weapons for Danny Dimes and less of the run game with Barkley and crew.
WR- Julio Jones. Julio will command the defense’s number one corner as usual which will allow for A.J. Brown to get more targets on lesser defensive competition and will open the door for Anthony Firkser. Also, its still Derrick Henry’s team, he's been averaging over 300 carries a season the past few seasons with last year over 400. They will still feed him the ball as they will be a run first team.
TE- Hockenson. So much hype for Hockenson, he was built by Stafford but Stafford loves his TEs (insert Tyler Higbee sleeper pick) but Hockenson has Jared Goff now…a QB who is known for not targeting TEs.
- Over or under 10.5 wins for the Cardinals?
Jordan: I’m going under. I love the Cards but man do they have a rough schedule. I think the KK era is over after this season.
Zack: Under. Division is too tough.
Jimmy: I like the Cardinals this year, but that division is super tough. With the competition between all 4 teams in that division, I think it will be tough. I would like to see the Cardinals win 10 to 12 games.
Tyler: Yes, I believe the Cardinals will win over 10.5 games this year. The defense is getting younger, faster, and meaner. They also signed A.J. Green this year, some of you reading this will be like it’s A.J. Green, he’s old and injury prone. BUT it’s still A.J. Green! He will help out Christian Kirk and Kirk will become that fantasy stud we’ve been waiting for because Kirk will be able to go into the slot and thrive against the nickel defensive backs. It will also help ‘Nuk as well cause there will be more single coverage on him which only results in massive points and touchdowns.
- Do you think Randall Cobb will be of any use for fantasy owners this season?
Jordan: 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Zack: Yes. Key is staying healthy
Jimmy: I do not think Randall Cobb will be anything more than a WR3 at best. With the amount of weapons Green Bay has, I think he might have maybe one or two good games and then disappear in that offense.
Tyler: Fantasy no, regular football yes; just like A.J. Green, Cobb will help others with his knowledge of the game and help build relationships with the younger WRs and Rodgers.
- Give us your top 5 WRs for PPR redraft formats.
Jordan:
- Adams
- Hopkins
- Hill
- Diggs
- Allen (based purely off of floor)
Zack: Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, Deandre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, Stefon Diggs.
Jimmy: Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley. With AJ Brown being a close 6th.
Tyler:
- Adams
- Diggs
- Justin Jefferson
- Allen Robinson
- A.J. Brown
Adams and Diggs are universally 1A and 1B in book, the Rodgers situation was sketchy but as soon as we saw the SOB walking into Lambeau, Adams was number 1 again. But it depends on who you like better in that situation, Rodgers or Allen, LaFleur or McDerrmitt. Three through five can also be interchangeable as well. I love my guy Allen Robinson in Chicago with the addition to Dalton (he’s better than Trubisky) and Justin Fields (QB1) he’s done so much with very little its going to be great to see what he can do with an actual QB. Justin Jefferson, what’s there to say that he already hasn’t proven. Best Rookie WR since Randy Moss that’s enough for me to have him in the Top 5. And lastly, it’s A.J. Brown, as stated earlier with the addition to Julio A.J. will get a lot more single coverage looks with lesser talent DBs.
