Round Table
Welcome back to the TSF Round Table where the guys at Truth Serum Football are joined by our guest Jason Trowbridge! The Regular Season is rolling along and as always we're here to answer some questions. Have a question you want us to answer at next week’s Round Table discussion? Drop it in a comment below.
This was written prior to the Thursday night game.
- What is your upset of the week?
Zach: Jets over Titans
Vince: Cardinals over Rams. I think Kyler has enough to compete with Stafford and the Rams’ offense.
Ike: My upset of the week is gonna be the Seattle Seahawks beating the 49ERS, even though Seattle has 2 losses I don’t think they are really underdogs ! The Seahawks are 3 point underdogs but I think they go on the road and get a win… Kittle is questionable as well as Tyler Lockett .. even if they both play I believe RUSS WILL COOK and DK and Lockett will both have big games. Seattle’s defense will slow down the 49ers at home and win…
Jason: My upset of the week is The Jets. Let's face it, the Titans outside of Derrick Henry are not clicking this year, the defense is in shambles, and with the addition of Julio Jones it seems that Vrabel doesn’t know how to incorporate his new star into a run heavy offense. Let’s not forget Tannehill has failed to attempt a pass beyond 20 yards this season and you have yourself a recipe for an upset If the Jets can contain Derrick Henry, and they always play Wideouts tough so far. And with the news that A.J. Brown isn’t gonna play and Julio questionable. Add in a Corey Davis revenge game. And I think the Jets upset the Titans in a close game. 27-24.
- What stud are you fading this week?
Zach: I’m going with Mike Evans. Belichick loves to take away the top weapon and there’s plenty of other options to go to for Brady.
Vince: Lamar Jackson, he’s a little beaten up and I see a low scoring game against Denver.
Ike: The stud that I am gonna fade this week is Kyler Murray, yes he’s explosive and makes all kinds of crazy plays and he’s awesome … already threw for over 1K yards , has 7TDS and 4INT… Cards face off vs the RAMS and both are undefeated but I believe the Rams D will create a few turnovers and slow Murray down enough to get the win ..
Jason: One stud I'm fading this week is Dalvin Cook or Mattison for that matter. It remains to be seen if Dalvin Cook will be cleared to play this week after injuring his ankle in week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. If he is cleared I’m still sitting him in this matchup against this Browns defense who are only allowing 3.1 yards per carry this season. This is a tough matchup for the Vikings star RB, especially after coming back from an ankle injury, the Browns’ defense stifled the Rookie bears QB with 9 sacks last week and they’re only gonna get better. And if Dalvin isn’t to play that would be put it in the hands of Alexander Mattison who’s coming off arguably his career best game against Seattle. One thing is for sure, this Browns run defense is no joke. I’d sit Dalvin/Mattison this week.
- Give us a player that would normally be on fantasy owners’ benches that you see as a must start this week.
Zach: Kendrick Bourne. The Pats will be playing catch-up like last week and Bourne showed out.
Vince: Devante Parker! He’s had a quiet season so far but Jacoby Brissett likes to look his way and give him the opportunity to go get the ball. I think this week he has a decent game of 6for70ish and a touchdown!
Ike: Player I think would be on most people’s benches but should start this week I’m gonna go with Chuba Hubbard. With CMC out another week I think this could be Hubbard’s week to shine and show them what he can do. I know he’s not a CMC caliber player but we all know how the Panthers like to use him , so with him being out I think he will get a good amount of carries plus several catches out of the backfield and finds paydirt this weekend..
Jason: A must start this week for me is Courtland Sutton. Jerry Jeudy is still on IR and now KJ Hamler is out for season with a torn acl. This puts Sutton at the top of the list. With the Broncos set to take on the Baltimore Ravens this week who are giving up an astonishing 314.7 YPG. That’s 30th in the league right now. If you need a WR2 to get you over the hump in your matchups this week, then Courtland Sutton is your guy.
- Latavius Murray or Ty’Son Williams full PPR from here on out?
Zach: Murray will take over this backfield and serve as the goaline back.
Vince: Murray, I’ve been waiting for him to take over and think it’s inevitable, just might not be this week.
Ike: Latavius Murray or Ty'son Williams full PPR, well we all know that Murray can be a beast and rumble through anyone like he has in the past . He has talent for a big back , but I believe in this situation that Williams will be more productive and get more carries and catches … Murray will definitely be the short yardage guy and goalline guy so he may score more TDS, but Williams will carry more of the load and be more productive..
Jason: With this injury riddled backfield known as The Baltimore Ravens. Moving forward you have to look at who’s going to get you the most points and to me that seems to be Latavius having scored touchdowns in the last two and having out touched Ty’son last week. Moving forward in a crowded backfield such as this one. I think Murray arises and takes the job until at least next season.
- What playoff team from last season do you think is not going to make the cut this year?
Zach: Definitely the Bears! Sorry Travis!
Vince: Bears or Saints. Both coming into the season with new quarterbacks and are just mediocre teams at the moment.
Ike: And the playoff team that will not make the cut I believe is the Pittsburgh Steelers, I hate to say it I’m a diehard Steelers fan but they can not get there act together. Ben is already banged up, Watt is hurt, Claypoolis hurt… they have built a great team, drafted a hell of a beast in Najee. But if they can’t find a way to complete games and win , they just may lose several games in a row and not even be close to even think about the playoffs! HATE TO SAY IT BUT, JUST MAY HAPPEN….
Jason: The answer is simple. The Pittsburgh Steelers. Let's face it, the Steelers are a mess right now, with a horrible offensive line, to an aging QB who plays like his age at 39. The one staple they have going for them was the defense but with TJ Watt being injured and the loss of Bud Dupree, we can all agree this team isn’t the same. With having already lost to a divisional rival in the Bengals. And having to play The Browns and Ravens in the second half of the season. It’s gonna be a long and grueling 17 game season for the Pittsburgh Steelers who I think will miss the playoffs this season, my projection is 5-11.
That’s it for this week guys. Thanks for reading and as always, stay true.
