Week 2: The Ugly Truth of Transactions

Week 2: The Ugly Truth of Transactions

The Ugly Truth of Transactions by Christian Hosaflook

So you thought Michael Thomas would kill it week 1, then he high ankle sprains himself. Man, I’m sorry, and it happened to me too. So to give yourself a more secure week 2 starter you look to the waivers, or a different starter disappointed you to start the ole season of rona. Well here at TSF we’re prepping to keep the waivers running for you and help push you over the top week in and week out. So if you’re undecided on someone, or you want to look further than your personal sleepers/pickups, we’re glad you're here.

I don’t know if you saw MNF between Pittsburgh and New York, but if you did, then you saw James Conner go down and a backup 2019 4th rounder named Benny Snell come in for 19 rushes for 113 yards. I like Conner a lot personally, but I won’t say he’s injury proof, in fact he’s pretty prone, but his status is in the air, and if that remains so for week 2 vs Denver, Tomlin runs 1 rb historically and Snell would be next in line for those reps. He’s currently 50.3% owned in leagues according to espn, which has shot up since I looked Tuesday morning, so if you can snag him or spend some FAAB money on waivers, I’d go for Snell.

If you really stayed up Monday night for football and saw Titans-Broncos, then you saw Tannehill have a solid week 1 after a surprise 2019 in Mile High. I was surprised to see he’s only 34.1% rostered qb. I have him as my qb in several leagues and the value here is tremendous! Good to great o-line, good to great pass catchers, and a Derrick Henry to balance the attack, along with a stingy defense. Tannehill plays against Jacksonville in week 2, and while Rivers will be Rivers, Tannehill should be good for 250 yards and 2 maybe 3 td’s.

Week 1 always has surprises and I’m sure Philly losing after being up 17-0 was one of them. More specifically, after the cut of AP, Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love, and Mvkissic got all of the love. But week 1 saw forgotten Peyton Barber get the most touches (17) and 2 td’s to boot. Washington wants to run it. Say you are a Conner owner like me, and Snell was taken, well Barber is down at 20.4% so he should be an easier get. I’d try if I were you vs Arizona.

You Like That? Kirk Cousins gets ripped a lot by fans, but the dude has been 15th or better in every season of fantasy he’s been his teams starter. Week 1 showed he can still air it out when the Cook attack isn’t the strongest on the day. But I’m surprised to see him only rostered on 21.7% of teams. He has Adam Thielen, Dalvin Cook, Kyle Rudoplh, and Justin Jefferson at his disposal, that's a nice balance for a full season for any qb. I’d pick up Cousins vs a questionable Indianapolis secondary in week 2.

Who had the most targets of any pass catcher in week 1 from Dwayne Haskins? If you said Terry Mclaurin, you’d be wrong, That title belongs to Tight End Logan Thomas, who had 8 targets for 4 catches, 37 yards, and a touchdown. During camp Dwayne looked his way a lot from reports and that rang true vs Philly. Logan is only rostered on 6.5% of teams, and I’ll be honest with you, I think this is a waiver addition that ends up staying for weeks on end.

In Baltimore, the pass catchers you probably hear most about are Mark Andrews, Hollywood Brown, and the rookie Duvernay, along with their potent rushing attack and Lamar being Lamar. But it was Willie Snead who caught 4 of 4 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown. They now play Houston which struggled vs slot receivers a lot vs KC and even in 2019, so expect a good target and production percentage from Snead, who’s only rostered on 2.3% of teams.

Thank you for joining us today at TSF, we hope you keep drinking that serum, it may win you some leagues this season!
